The Opportunity

ATRIUM is looking for a Content Writing Specialist who can uncover what makes a client’s knowledge valuable and turn it into clear, credible and original content. This is a client-facing writing role for someone who enjoys research, asks strong questions and can write confidently across technical, narrative and commercial subjects.

The role is built for the way modern Search Marketing now works. You will personally write our Focal Content, the expert-led pieces at the centre of a client’s strategy. You will also create the detailed outlines and source direction used to produce supporting Context and Distributed Content through an AI-first, human-edited workflow.

What makes this role different: You are not expected to draft every piece in the content plan. Your value is concentrated where professional judgment matters most: discovery, client context, original Focal writing and the strategic direction that keeps scaled production accurate and specific.

Why This Role Exists

For more than 25 years, ATRIUM has helped business leaders build more reliable marketing performance. Our proprietary Marketing Systems Engineering approach uses clear routines, evidence and continual improvement to create consistent results instead of relying on disconnected tactics or occasional wins.

Search is expanding beyond traditional rankings into AI-generated answers and new discovery environments. Our Search Marketing v2 service combines SEO, AEO and GEO through several connected content layers. This role ensures those layers begin with real client knowledge, credible human writing and strong editorial direction.

How Content Work Is Divided

Focal Content

The Content Writing Specialist leads client discovery, research, outlining, human writing, revision and approval. These are ATRIUM’s primary expert-led assets and the specialist’s core writing responsibility.

Context Content

The specialist creates the strategic outline and source direction. A Content Production Writer develops and edits the AI-first draft using approved client context, with quality review applied according to ATRIUM’s workflow.

Distributed Content

The specialist creates the outline and source direction using the Search strategy and External Influence Brief. A Content Production Writer develops and edits the AI-first draft for the selected external channel or ecosystem.

Role boundary: The Content Writing Specialist does not carry the full drafting workload for all three content types. The role creates the human-written Focal Content and provides the discovery, context and outlines that make Context and Distributed production accurate, useful and client-specific. Content Production Writers work from internal handoffs and do not conduct client discovery or client-facing content reviews.

What You Will Do

Lead Client Discovery

  • Interview clients and subject-matter experts to uncover the knowledge, evidence, examples and perspective behind their business.
  • Learn each client’s audience, offers, differentiators, voice, terminology, priorities and constraints.
  • Review websites, sales materials, prior content, competitor information and Search strategy inputs before planning new work.
  • Maintain dependable client context and resolve information gaps before they become writing or production problems.
  • Represent the Content team in discovery, Focal Content review and subject-matter clarification conversations.

Write Human-Led Focal Content

  • Plan, research, outline, write, proof and finalize Focal Content for assigned Search Marketing clients.
  • Create original articles, webpages, guides and other expert-led assets using human authorship and direct client insight.
  • Adapt your writing across narrative, technical and commercially focused formats while preserving accuracy and client voice.
  • Support SEO, AEO and GEO through useful answers, clear structure, evidence, entity clarity and genuine expert perspective.
  • Present work for client review when required and resolve feedback without weakening the piece’s purpose.

Direct Context and Distributed Production

  • Create a complete, production-ready outline for each assigned Context and Distributed piece.
  • Define the purpose, audience, angle, structure, client insight, evidence, sources and factual boundaries for the work.
  • Connect Context pieces to the relevant Focal Content and quarterly Search plan so coverage becomes deeper rather than repetitive.
  • Adapt Distributed outlines to the intended third-party channel using ATRIUM’s External Influence Brief and Search strategy.
  • Hand off approved outlines and context to Content Production Writers and answer internal clarification questions.
  • Improve future outlines by learning from production feedback, revisions and recurring quality issues.

Use AI With Professional Judgment

You should already be comfortable using leading LLM tools such as ChatGPT and Claude as part of a serious writing and thinking process. You can use them to organize research, synthesize sources, explore angles, strengthen outlines and work through complex questions. You also know when the output is generic, unsupported or simply wrong.

Focal Content remains human-written. LLMs may help you investigate and plan, but you create the final prose and remain accountable for every claim. For Context and Distributed Content, your outlines and source direction create the foundation for a separate AI-first, human-edited production workflow. In every case, factual verification, originality, confidentiality and client specificity are essential.

What Success Looks Like

  • Clients feel understood because discovery captures their real knowledge, language and perspective.
  • Focal Content is original, accurate, useful, well-structured and recognizably specific to the client.
  • Context and Distributed outlines are complete enough to support efficient production with less avoidable rework.
  • Claims are verified, sources are appropriate and factual concerns are resolved before approval or publication.
  • Content commitments remain on schedule and risks are communicated before they affect delivery.
  • AI tools improve research and planning without reducing quality, originality or professional accountability.
  • SEO Specialists, Technical SEO Specialists, coordinators and production contributors receive clear and dependable handoffs.

What You Bring

  • Three or more years of professional content writing, journalism, communications, content strategy or digital marketing experience.
  • A strong portfolio showing original narrative and technical writing, research depth and the ability to adapt your voice.
  • Experience interviewing clients, leaders or subject-matter experts and turning their insight into engaging content.
  • Strong research, fact-checking, proofreading and information-literacy skills.
  • The ability to create detailed outlines another writer can follow without losing the strategy or client context.
  • Confident professional use of LLMs such as ChatGPT and Claude for research, synthesis, outlining and problem-solving.
  • The judgment to challenge, verify and improve model output rather than accepting it at face value.
  • Strong verbal communication, organization and follow-through across multiple clients and deadlines.
  • A practical understanding of how content supports search visibility, AI-generated answers, audience trust and business goals.

Helpful but Not Essential

  • Education in writing, journalism, communications, marketing or a related discipline.
  • Experience in a digital marketing agency or another multi-client service business.
  • Working knowledge of SEO, AEO, GEO, search intent and content briefs.
  • Experience with structured client knowledge, editorial operations or content workflow systems.
  • Experience writing for technical, specialized, regulated or business-to-business audiences.

Our broader operating model aims for approximately 70% planned task capacity with up to 30% flexibility for feedback, collaboration, priority changes and normal variation.

Benefits and Development

  • 15 days of paid vacation each year.
  • Paid casual illness and quarterly wellness days in accordance with company policy.
  • Health, dental, paramedical and long-term disability insurance.

  • Your resume.
  • A cover letter explaining why this combination of client discovery, human writing and AI-informed content planning fits your experience.
  • Links or files showing a mix of narrative and technical writing samples.

Shortlisted candidates may be asked to complete a practical exercise involving client discovery material, a Focal Content excerpt, a production-ready outline and the critical review of LLM-generated output.

What We Will Assess

  • The quality of the questions you ask and the insight you identify from source material.
  • Your ability to write accurate, engaging and original Focal Content in a suitable client voice.
  • Whether your outline gives another writer clear strategic, factual and editorial direction.
  • How carefully you challenge, verify and improve AI-generated material.

Bring expertise into focus: If you are a thoughtful writer who can earn client trust, create excellent original work and give scaled content production a stronger foundation, we would like to hear from you.
